If I make a few delayed payments, will that negatively impact my credit score?
Yes, delays in repayments are likely to impact your credit score adversely. This is because banks are required to report the status of repayment of Equated Monthly Instalments (EMIs) and credit card bills of all customers to credit information bureaus on a monthly basis. Before issuing a credit card or a loan to a customer, various lending institutions refer to the information provided by these credit bureaus to get an idea of the customer's track record. So, if you have a clean record of prompt repayments, your credit score will be favourable.
