What are Inactive and Dormant accounts?

Inactive Account: If you do not do any transactions through your savings account for more than 12 months, the account will be classified as "Inactive".

Dormant Account: If you do not do any transactions through your savings account for more than 24 months, the account will be classified as "Dormant".

This is a measure to safeguard your interest, as it is possible that you may not be monitoring your account.

What are the restrictions on Inactive and Dormant accounts?

Inactive Account restriction: If your account becomes Inactive, we will not be able to process the following requests :

  • Request for deliverables like Debit Card , Cheque Book, Intenet Banking User ID/Password

    No other requests or services will be denied in case your account is inactive

 

Dormant Account restrictions: If your account becomes Dormant, we will not be able to process your instructions for:

  • Issuance of chequebook/ deliverables
  • Renewal of ATM/ Debit Card
  • Requests for change of address, contact number, email address
  • Transactions through ATM, Internet Banking and Phone Banking

How can you activate your Inactive or Dormant account?

Inactive Account Activation: You can activate your Inactive account in the following ways:

  • Withdraw or deposit money in your account through Cheque or ATM
  • Funds Transfer into the account through Money2India.com
  • Bill Payment

Internet Banking : You can activate your Inactive account as follows:

  • Login to Internet Banking ->Service Requests -> Activation of Inactive/Dormant Account ->Fill in the details and submit your request
  • Call our 24-hour Customer Care.
  • Write to us at nri@icicibank.com.
  • Visit your nearest branch in India.
    *Cash deposit is not applicable for NRE accounts. For INR cheque deposit in NRE account , proof of source of funds is required.

Dormant Account Activation: In order to normalize your account (from dormant stage), you may use any one of the following channels:

  • Send an account-activation request to ICICI Bank Limited, RPC Mumbai, Autumn Estate, 5th Floor, 'A' Wing, Near Mhada, Chandivali, Andheri (E), Mumbai - 400 072. INDIA
  • Write to us by logging in www.icicibank.com and placing the request through "Service Request" option available in your Internet Banking
  • Call us on +91 40 23128925, if you are currently residing abroad or in India
  • If you are in India, Visit the nearest ICICI Bank Branch and submit an account-activation letter along with your passport copy
