How to incorporate ICICI Bank APIs in just few easy steps

By switching to BaaS through APIs, tech-savvy banks like ICICI Bank are embracing Open Banking and transforming the traditional banking landscape in India. Check out this post to know how businesses and developers can incorporate the APIs offered by ICICI Bank in simple steps.

While Open Banking is already an established practice in countries like Europe, India is the latest country to embrace this initiative. It involves banks providing access to their core customer data to 3rd party financial service providers through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

ICICI Bank is at the forefront of this API platform focus on Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) initiative to significantly transform the banking scenario in the country. Apart from financial service providers, ICICI Bank has also opened its API banking portal to developers where they can build, test, and integrate new APIs.

Here are the steps businesses and developers can follow for incorporating APIs offered by ICICI Bank:

1. Register at ICICI Bank developer portal

To start with, visit and click on the “Sign Up” button. You will be required to provide basic details like Name, e-mail ID, Company name and Mobile number. Once these details are submitted, an OTP will be generated and sent to your mobile number.

Enter the OTP and proceed to select a Username and Password for the ICICI Bank Developer Portal. ICICI Bank will then review your application.

2. Get the API keys

All the APIs, either the ones offered by ICICI Bank or developed by you, will have an associated API Key. This key is a unique code or identifier for authenticating the calling program of the API. It is with the help of these keys that the APIs are tracked, and their unauthorised use is prevented.

Once you have selected an existing API or your created API is ready to go live, a unique API key will be generated for the same and you will need this key for incorporating the interface into your application or service.

Bank API integration made easy

As you can see, incorporating ICICI Bank API is a simple process. You can browse through the extensive range of APIs offered by the bank or create a personalised API for a custom application. In case of any queries, you can always get in touch with your ICICI Bank Account Manager.
