What is Railway Ticket Booking via SMS?


Railway Ticket Booking via SMS is a unique facility, which gives you the power to book long distance railway tickets through IRCTC by just sending a simple SMS.

What is the benefit of this facility?


This facility allows you to book railway tickets by just sending a simple SMS from wherever you are i.e. even when you are on the move.

What are the prerequisites for this facility?


All you need is a simple one-time registration with ICICI Bank and IRCTC.

Registration with ICICI Bank

You will have to register for Mobile banking and should have a mShop Name.

To register for 'mShop Name', all you need to do is follow the steps mentioned below.

  • Login to ICICIBank.com with your Internet banking User ID and password.
  • Click on the Mobile Banking tab.
  • Click on 'Mobile Shopping Service' option on the left menu.
  • Enter your desired 4-digit alphanumeric mShop Name and confirm the same.
  • Click on Submit button.



Registration with IRCTC

You will also have to register for Mobile Railway Ticket booking via SMS, by visiting the IRCTC website.

What type of railway tickets can I book through this facility?


Currently, you can book long distance railway tickets for the trains as allowed by IRCTC.

What are the charges for this facility?


This booking via SMS facility is free of cost. All you have to pay will be the normal charges as applicable for Internet booking.

 

SMS charges would be applicable as levied by your Mobile Service Provider. Charges for delivery of tickets would be as levied by IRCTC.

How will my Bank Account be debited?


The total amount will be debited from your Bank account, which you have registered for Mobile Banking. In case you have registered more than one account, the Primary account will be debited.

 

Your bank account will be debited immediately.

Will I get any intimation from the Bank for the payment?


Yes, ICICI Bank will send you a SMS intimating success / failure of your bank account being debited.

Will I receive intimation for successful booking of the ticket?


Yes, IRCTC will send you a SMS intimating you the success / failure of the ticket booking.

 

In case IRCTC cannot book the tickets they will send a SMS to you intimating the same. In such a scenario, we will refund the amount (credit to your account) in 3-4 working days.

What if I do not get any confirmation message from IRCTC?


If you do not get a confirmation SMS from IRCTC you can login to your Internet account with IRCTC and check the status of your request under the "Booked tickets" link.

What is Mobile Shopping Service?


ICICI Bank's Mobile Shopping Service (mShop) gives you the unique advantage of making payments for your purchases by just sending a SMS form the comfort of your home. All you need is to complete a one-time registration by logging in to your Internet Banking account and providing a mShop Name.

 

Currently this service can be used for booking railway tickets (through IRCTC) via SMS and for Recharging your Prepaid Mobile connection.

What is a mShop Name?


ICICI Bank's Mobile Shopping service mShop gives you the unique advantage of making payments for your purchases by just sending a SMS form the comfort of your home.

 

A mShop Name is a nickname, which has to be provided at the time of registering for Mobile Shopping with ICICI Bank.

 

The mShop Name has to be quoted by you when sending a payment authorisation to the merchant.

 

The mShop Name acts as an additional authentication parameter and hence it should be kept a secret.

What are the features / validations of the mShop Name?


Mentioned below are the features / validations of the mShop Name

 

a) It should be exactly 4 characters,
b) It should not include special characters and spaces.

How do I register for the mShop facility?


To register for 'mShop Name', all you need to do is follow the steps mentioned below.

 

Login to ICICIBank.com with your Internet banking User ID and password
Click on the Mobile Banking tab
Click on 'Mobile Shopping Service' option on the left menu
Enter your desired 4-digit alphanumeric mShop Name and confirm the same
Click on Submit button

 

This is a one-time registration.

I have forgotten / want to change my mShop name, what do I do?


If you have forgotten or want to change your mShop Name you can reset a new one by logging in to your Internet Banking account at www.icicibank.com (Mobile Banking Section).

I have changed my Mobile number, what do I do?


If you have changed your Mobile number you will have to update the same by logging in to your Internet Banking account at www.icicibank.com (Mobile Banking Section).
