ICICI Lombard brings you Critical Guard Insurance; a first-of-its-kind policy that offers a lump-sum benefit on diagnosis of Critical illness/ injury. It comes with an additional cover against Personal Accident and Permanent Total Disablement (PTD), all under one roof.

What are the Benefits of Critical Guard Insurance?

ICICI Lombard Critical Guard Insurance offers you the following benefits

  • Cover against Critical illness, Accidental Death or Permanent Total Disablement (PTD) on account of an Accident.
  • Tax Benefit under section 80D for Critical Illness Premium
  • Choice of cover: 3 or 5 years.
  • No health check up required up to 40 years of age, only a simple health-declaration.

What is the age limit for taking this policy?

The minimum age for taking this policy is 20 years and maximum is 40 years. This also means that no health check up is required for up to 40 years of age.

Is health-check up required for taking a Critical Guard Insurance policy?

No, health check up is required for up to 40 years of age. However, you may need to submit a simple health declaration and you must not have suffered from any pre-exisiting illness/injury 90 days prior to the policy start date.

What covers does the Critical Guard Insurance offer?

Critical Guard Policy offers a 3 or 5 year period (Rs. 6,00,000 or Rs. 12,00,000) cover on account of any of the following:

  • Major Medical illness and procedures.
  • Accidental Death
  • Permanent Total Disablement (PTD) on account of Accident leading to inability to remain gainfully employed.

What if I cancel my policy mid-duration, i.e. before the policy expires?

In case you cancel your policy during the policy duration, you can avail a premium refund. Click here to view premium refund table However, no refunds of premium will be made under the Policy during the last year of the Policy Period.

What are the different modes of payment?

Now you can choose between 5 payment options to pay your premium online:

  • Credit Card - Make secure premium payment with your VISA, Master and AMEX card. Avail 0% EMI on ICICI Bank & Citibank Credit Cards.
  • Net banking - Transfer premium amounts online through ICICI Bank and 9 other select Banks
  • Bill Pay - Use your ICICI Bank Internet Banking account to pay your Motor Insurance premium
  • Debit Card - Just enter your Citibank Debit Card details to pay your insurance premium directly
  • Cash Card - Use your Done Card to make payment online.

Claims

What documents are needed to make a claim?

The documents required for making a Critical Illnesses Claim are as follows: Doctor's Certificate confirming the following:

  • Insured person's name
  • Name, date of occurrence and medical details of the illness/surgery
  • Confirmation of the absence of any pre-existing Illness or Injury within the first 3 months of policy start date
  • Duly completed claim forms
  • Original Discharge Certificate/ Card from the hospital/ Doctor
  • Original investigation test reports, indoor case papers

The documents required for making a Personal Accident claim are as follows:

  • Duly completed claim form
  • Doctor's Report
  • First Information Report and Final Police report, wherever necessary
  • Death certificate, wherever applicable
  • Investigation Reports like Laboratory test, X-rays and reports essential of confirmation of the Injury
  • Disability certificate from a government certified Doctor or government hospital confirming the extent and nature of disability
  • Post mortem report, if applicable
  • Any other supporting documents as may be required by the Company

What is the procedure for making a claim?

  • Log a claim by giving immediate notice in writing to the Company
    Critical Illness Claim: Intimate ICICI Lombard within 30 days from the date of diagnosis of the concerned illness/surgical procedure
    Personal Accident Claim: Intimate ICICI Lombard within 7 days from the date of occurrence of the accident/ injury
  • Submit all reasonable documents - information, assistance and proofs in connection with any claim within 30 days from the occurrence of the event.
