1. Who is an NRI?
An NRI is an Indian citizen who stays outside India |
(a) for purposes of carrying out employment or any
business or vocation;
(b) under circumstances indicating an intention to
stay outside India for an uncertain
duration;
(c) any Indian citizen deputed outside India for a
temporary period in connection with employment.

2. Who is a PIO?
A citizen of a foreign country (other than a citizen of Bangladesh
or Pakistan) is a PIO if |
(a) he/ she at any time held an Indian passport;
OR
(b) he/ she or either of his/ her parents or any of
his/ her grandparents was a citizen of
India; OR
(c) spouse (not being a citizen of Bangladesh or Pakistan)
of an Indian citizen or (a)
or (b) above.

3. How do I open an NRE Fixed Deposit?
You can open an NRE Fixed Deposits either by applying
online or by downloading the A/C
opening form and mailing it to us at our India Address:

visa (in case of expired visas, duly acknowledged petitions
made to the Visa Authorities for renewal of visas will be
accepted as a valid document.)

- Residence Permit (Govt. issued Identity card)

Yes. The principal amount and interest earned are fully repatriable. |

No, NRE Fixed Deposits are not taxable in India. |

11. Can I open my account in any currency?
Yes you can open your account in any currency. We will convert
your currency into INR and open the NRE Fixed Deposits. Your
NRE Fixed Deposits will be maintained in INR only. |
