What is ICICI Bank Mobile Banking USSD ?

ICICI Bank Mobile Banking USSD is a simple and quick form of mobile banking. It allows access to your bank account from any GSM handset, without remembering any keyword or downloading any application. This is a secure, easy and interactive menu-based service that lets you access your savings account, credit card, demat and loan account.

To use the service dial *525# and press CALL. This service is currently available on Vodafone, Idea, MTNL, Reliance (GSM) and Tata Docomo (GSM).

What is USSD ?

Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) is a GSM network-based technology which provides fast, interactive communication between a user and a service application in real time.

Do I need to register for this service ?

If you are a registered ICICI Bank Mobile Banking customer, you can access Mobile Banking (USSD) by simply dialing *525# from your phone. (Click here to register for Mobile Banking). This service is currently available on Vodafone, Idea, MTNL, Reliance (GSM) and Tata Docomo (GSM).

How secure is this service ?

The Mobile Banking Service on USSD is secure and convenient for users:

  • Mobile Banking (USSD) has an in-built GSM level encryption that ensures safety by 'no store, just forward' facility for secured transactions.
  • One can access this service only if registered for ICICI Bank's Mobile Banking services.
  • It is accessible only from registered mobile number.
  • The account number is partially masked.

Do I need to download any application to access this service ?

No. This service runs over the USSD platform, which is available on all GSM handsets. On dialing *525#, a secure USSD session will be created between your mobile phone and the ICICI Bank Mobile Banking services.

Currently, this service is available for registered mobile banking users across the Vodafone, Idea, MTNL, Reliance (GSM) and Tata Docomo (GSM) networks.

How is this service different from other technologies like SMS, Operator WAP site or iMobile ?

With ICICI Bank Mobile Banking (USSD), you do not need to log on to any WAP site, download any application or remember any keywords used for SMS transactions. It is simply an interactive, secure, menu-based service you can access by dialing *525#.

Is this service chargeable ?

ICICI Bank does not charge for this service. However, operator charges may be applicable.

Can I access this service anywhere in India ?

What is IMPS ?

IMPS is an instant, 24X7, interbank electronic fund transfer service through mobile phones. IMPS facilitates customers to use mobile instruments as a channel for accessing their bank accounts and put interbank fund transfers in a secured manner with immediate confirmation. IMPS can also be used to transfer money to beneficiary accounts within ICICI Bank.

What are the benefits of IMPS Fund transfer service over other banking channel ?

The service is instant and available 24X7, even on public/bank holidays. Customers can transfer funds in simple steps by providing the 7digit MMID and the 10 digit mobile number of the beneficiary. Also, there is no pre - registration required for the beneficiary.

What is MMID ?

Mobile Money Identifier (MMID) is a 7 digit code issued by a participating bank to their Mobile Banking registered customers for availing IMPS service as a beneficiary. You will have different MMIDs for different accounts and all these could be linked to a single registered mobile number

How is the fund transfer service Real Time or Instantaneous ?

A common infrastructure has been set-up amongst participant banks, in association with the National Payment Corporation of India, to enable real time funds transfers across banks. Please visit www.icicibank.com for a list of banks currently providing IMPS to their customers.

Do I as payer or beneficiary need to have a bank account for availing IMPS ?

Yes, you need to have a savings bank or a current account with ICICI Bank.

Do I need to register to send money through IMPS ?

If you are a registered mobile banking customer of ICICI Bank, no more registrations are required. IMPS service is available over iMobile and USSD channels.

What are the steps to send money using IMPS from iMobile ?

To send money using iMobile:

  • Login to ICICI Bank iMobile
  • Select Bank Account Menu
  • Select the Bank Account from which you wish to transfer money
  • Select IMPS (Insta FT) from the menu
  • Enter the beneficiary’s 10 Digit Mobile Number, 7 Digit MMID and desired transfer amount
  • Confirm entered details
  • Enter the grid values from your ATM/debit card
  • Get receipt of transaction along with Transaction Reference Number

What are the steps to send money using IMPS from USSD channel ?

To send money using USSD:

  • Dial *525# from your registered mobile phone
  • Enter 2 for IMPS (Insta FT) from USSD Menu
  • Enter Last 6 digits of A/C number from which you wish to transfer the amount.
  • Enter the beneficiary’s 10 Digit Mobile Number, 7 Digit MMID and desired transfer amount
  • Confirm using 4 digit Login PIN.
  • Get receipt of transaction along with Transaction Reference Number.

IMPS Fund transfer asks for Last 6 digits of account number. Which account number can I enter here ?

You should enter the last 6 digits of account number from which you want to transfer funds. You can use only those accounts which are registered for mobile banking and linked to your unique user id.

For sending money, can I link more than one account to the same mobile number ?

Yes, this is possible. You will need to register your mobile number for Mobile Banking with all accounts that you may want to link.

If I have more than one account linked to my mobile number how do I select the account from which I want to send money to a beneficiary ?

During the transaction, you are prompted to enter (last 6 digits of) your account from which you want to send the money.

Is the beneficiary also required to register for IMPS ?

The beneficiary (ICICI Bank or other bank customer) should have his mobile number registered with his respective bank where he intends to receive the money. He should also have a valid 7-digit MMID provided by his bank. For each bank account number the beneficiary would have a different MMID. Please note that different customers of a Bank can have same MMIDs.

What beneficiary details do I need to send money ?

The beneficiary details required are:

  • Beneficiary's 10 digit mobile number
  • MMID of the beneficiary customer

Is there any limit on the value of transactions when I am sending money using IMPS through iMobile ?

Currently, the maximum limit for IMPS transactions through USSD is Rs 5,000 per customer per day. You can transact subject to this daily cap for all IMPS transactions through USSD (send money, receive money).

Is there any limit on the value of transactions when I am receiving money using IMPS ?

What if I lose my mobile phone / SIM card? Can anyone who comes into possession of the phone / SIM card send money using IMPS ifrom my account ?

The beneficiary details required to send money are mobile number and MMID. Before funds are credited into an account the corresponding mobile number and MMID are verified and only if both match will there be a credit into the account. Only when both -- the mobile number and the MMID – of the beneficiary match, funds are debited from your account and credited to the beneficiary. Else, the transaction fails and, no money get debited from your account.

What happens in case I enter a wrong beneficiary mobile number when sending money ?

The beneficiary details required to send money are mobile number and MMID. Before funds are credited into an account the corresponding mobile number and MMID are verified and only if both match will there be a credit into the account. Only when both -- the mobile number and the MMID – of the beneficiary match, funds are debited from your account and credited to the beneficiary. Else, the transaction fails and, no money get debited from your account.

What are the timings for initiating and receiving IMPS remittances ?

IMPS service is available 24 hours of the day, all days of the week, throughout the year. There are no holiday restrictions on IMPS transactions.

If the transaction is not completed will I get my money back ? When ?

Yes. In case, your account is debited and beneficiary account is not credited, then please call our call center and register your complaint with the following details:

  • Your Mobile Number
  • Your Account Number
  • RRN (Transaction Reference Number)
  • Date and time of transaction
  • Beneficiary Bank Name
  • Beneficiary Mobile Number
  • Beneficiary MMID

During the transaction, you are prompted to enter (last 6 digits of) your account from which you want to send the money.

How long does it take for the money to get credited into the beneficiary account ?

For successful transactions, funds get credited into the beneficiary's account instantaneously

Can I send money from an ICICI Bank Savings account to another account in any other bank?

Yes, you can transfer money from your ICICI Bank account to a beneficiary who has an account within the IMPS participating banks. Click here for a list of all participating banks.

When sending money, how do I come to know that my account is debited and the money has been credited in the beneficiary's account ?

You will get an amount debited SMS on your registered cell phone on successful completion of the transaction.

Can I send and / or receive remittance using the mobile number other than the one registered with the bank ?

No. You can send and / or receive funds using the registered mobile number only.

When can the beneficiary use the funds received through IMPS ?

The beneficiary can use the funds immediately on receipt of credit in the account.

Where do I register a complaint with reference to the IMPS transaction ?

If you are an ICICI Bank customer, you can register a complaint by calling our call center. Your query will be resolved within 9 working days.

What is the transaction limit for IMPS fund transfer through USSD channel ?

Currently the maximum limit for a customer to send and receive money through mobile banking using USSD is Rs. 5,000 per day.

Does IMPS service over USSD channel work with all the telecom operators ?

No, IMPS service through USSD channel is available only on Vodafone, Idea, MTNL, Reliance (GSM) and Tata Docomo (GSM) Telecom operators.

While generating PIN through USSD channel, it asks me to enter MMID. Where do I get my MMID ?

To know your MMID: Dial *525# --> Enter 4 to Generate MMID --> Provide Last 6 digit of Account No. --> Your MMID will be displayed.

Can I use the USSD PIN at the ATM to withdraw cash ?

It is advisable to use different PINs for ATM and mobile banking transactions.

I also use iMobile. Can I use the same PIN for USSD and iMobile ?

Login PINs on USSD and iMobile are created by you. If you desire, you may create same PIN for iMobile and USSD. Yet, it is advisable to use different PINs for different channels.

What happens when a session breaks during a transaction ? Would I need to reenter the information all over again ?

No, you will be taken to the last screen on re-dialing USSD service command *525#.

I have 2 accounts with ICICI Bank, do I need separate MMIDs for each of these accounts ?

Yes, every account has its own separate MMID.

Do I need to use my MMID while transferring money to another mobile phone ?

No, You need to provide beneficiary MMID and mobile number.

Where will I get the MMID of the payee ?

Your payee should communicate his MMID to you to receive fund in his account.

I have recently changed my number. Will I be able to do IMPS transaction using my new number ?

If you have changed your mobile number, you will need to register the new number for Mobile Banking.

Can I transfer money abroad using IMPS ?

No .

How can I track my IMPS Transaction ?

Every successful IMPS transaction can be tracked by RRN Number or Transaction reference number.
