Do I need a Health plan?

  “It won’t happen to me”
We often take our health for granted, not realizing that with our hectic schedules and demanding lifestyles, chances of health hazards have increased substantially.

We think that when we are in our prime, we are quite safe from any major illness and we need to be more careful of our health only after 40 years of age.
However, here are some worrisome facts that may make us think again :-
online life insurance, life insurance rates
30% of people who have a Heart Attack are below the age of 40 and 66% of deaths today are because of Cardiovascular diseases.

cheap life insurance, low cost life insurance Almost 3.8 million people suffer from Diabetes today.
prudential life insurance, best life insurance rate
18% of urban population suffers from Hypertension which leads to Renal failure (kidney failure), Stroke and Cardiovascular diseases.

Rising Medical costs

This is inevitable – Healthcare costs have increased substantially over the years and will continue to do so in the future.

Today, a middle-level manager with a family of four, spends between Rs.8000 - Rs.12000 a year on healthcare - compared to just Rs.2000 in the late-1980s.

Break-up of health costs

Most people give most importance to the direct costs arising out of hospitalisation and rightly so. But they tend to ignore the indirect costs, like traveling, lodging etc…, that can sometimes be as high as 35% of the total expenses. This could create a huge dent in savings.

Also, most people don’t consider loss of pay during the hospitalisation which can have a crippling effect, especially so for self-employed businessmen.

Therefore, what you need is a Health plan that covers you against critical illnesses, by providing the necessary financial assistance to cover your direct as well as indirect costs.
